Frozen Shamrock 3 mile Recap

Hiya!

As you may recall, I said I had short races over these next few weeks. Today was the Frozen Shamrock in Haverhill, Mass. This is the first race of the Wild Rover series and it was my third time running this race.

I woke up to this:

You may think I was upset, but no. I love running in the snow!

We picked up our numbers and tshirts and parked. Thanks to a long ladies’ room line, we actually ended up being a little late to the start… but only by 40 seconds or so.

We both ran to catch up, Charlotte a little quicker than I. Bummer, there were no race photographers on the course! Luckily, Charlotte caught a picture of this dog who wasn’t into jogging.

I think this might be my favorite race. The course is great, with just the right amount of hills to keep it interesting, but none of them are so awful that I couldn’t wait for them to be done. The first time I ran this, it was only my third race and it was pretty hard for me. Today, I obviously wanted a PR, but I was more concerned with finishing without being hurt. The first mile was a little on the slower side, and the second and third were each faster than the previous! Another goal of mine was negative splits, so I was really excited.

My official time for this race (3.01 miles) was 29:59.8. Doesn’t get much closer to 30:00 than that! Not only did I beat my goal of 30 minutes, I PR’d by more than two minutes :D

I sure did have some hip pain when I started walking again, but my trainer friend was over Saturday night and gave me some things to do to help with that, so that’s my new project.

After the race I went to the in-laws where we had a nice dinner and the neice passed out this quiz. We laughed HARD.

I was the only one at the table to score a perfect 3 out of 3.

What was the best thing that happened to you this weekend?
