Kombucha for an upset stomach

Last week I had an upset stomach one day and it just would not go away. It was just that sour, yukky stomach feeling. I was in the supermarket and instead of picking up some Pepto, I went to the drink section and looked for something with ginger in it. (Did you know that ginger helps with upset stomachs?)

I came across this.

I’ve heard that people love Kombucha and the only ingredients in here are Kombucha, ginger root, and love. I also think love helps with an upset stomach so I decided to try it. I have to be honest, I had to force myeslf to take a few sips of this stuff. It smells and tastes, ironically, like an upset stomach…if you know what I mean. I probably would have figured that out if I read this first. (Seriously, read that if you’re curious about what it is and where it comes from). Its slightly carbonated, which I like when my tummy is upset. And the taste is very bitter… like sucking on a ginger root. Which is great if you like that.

On the positive side, it really helped my stomach! I don’t know if it was psychosomatic because I thought it was supposed to help, or that I willed myself to feel better because I spent $3+ on this bottle of moldy tea, but I’ve been taking sips out of it here and there since when my stomach is feeling off. I would buy it again to help with my stomach, but this is not something I would buy to suck down on a road trip. I am curious about the other flavors, though.

Have you tried Kombucha? Do you like it?

  1. I’m scared to try it, I know a lot people rave about it, but I just can’t get past the smell. I will have to try it some day I suppose just to say I’ve done it.

    Glad you feel better :)

I have not been able to bring myself to try Kombucha! Maybe I’ll try it if I have an upset stomach and I don’t actually know what I’m drinking :)

    Glad you are feeling better!

Thanks! I didn’t know what it was until I was writing this post! I don’t know that I would have tried it if I did…

Wow. Intriguing. I hardly ever get upset stomachs, but it would be nice to have a cure for nausea. That being said, with your review of the smell, I might just stick to ginger ale. Glad you are feeling better!

Thanks! If you can stand the smell, this actually worked really speedy… but the smell is pretty potent!

My husband and I LOVE Kombucha! We buy the brand in the picture all the time and we drink it just because we like it! For us, it tastes like a very strong ginger ale. Hm, I guess we’re wierd, lol! It did take a bottle or two to get used to it at first but now we can’t get enough. It was just on sale at our store – SCORE! – so we stocked up!

I know this is an older post, but I had to comment. I tried Kombucha and the taste was terrible, but yet, I wanted more. I now love and crave the taste!
I have an autoimmune illness and suffer daily nausea. I’m also in a lot of pain.
A couple weeks ago I began drinking Kombucha daily. Sine then, I haven’t had nausea and My pain has lessened. I love Kombucha! My only problem is that my tween daughter and teenage son also love it. It’s expensive with all of us drinking it.
I think I’ve raved enough. If you haven’t tried it before, you must!!
