I think that having summer break as kids makes it the only season that we declare is “winding down” or “over” about a month before its actually done. Having said that, I’m very excited for fall (my favorite), but I’ve had a great summer and added some new discoveries to my life:
1. iPhone
I kicked, I screamed, I left my Blackberry for my iPhone4, and I fell in love. Aside from the fact that I’m constantly afraid of breaking it, myPhone has brought nothing but joy to my life. I know, it sounds crazy, and I always thought people with iPhones were crazy, but its really great. My favorite apps/games are: Words with Friends, Fast Food (to help me find restaurants, coffee places, etc nearby), Instagram (a photo app), Quark (daily trivia game), and the Teavana app… its just fun. If you have an iPhone, give me some app tips!
2. Kozy Shack Rice Pudding

I had some of this on our flight to Portugal in May and have been buying it ever since! And who says plane food is all gross?
3. Sperrys.
I always wanted to wear boat shoes, but I didn’t think I could pull them off… until this year, when all the cool kids started wearing them. I bought a pair at the beginning of the summer and didn’t want to take them off… ever. They are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in public. And they have them in purple metallic!
4. Mad Men

Yep, I’m hopping on this bandwagon, too. I’m not even done with the first season on Netflix and I’m hooked. Originally I was just fascinated with the costumes and how true to 1960s real life it all seemed, with everyone (including pregnant women) smoking and men drinking whatever they want at work. But now the story has me hooked, as well. I have to be honest… there’s a tiny piece of me that thinks I would love to be a Betty Draper type… until I see what Don Draper is up to during his down time.
5. Free Time
Have other people heard about this? Its awesome. Basically, you either purposely or accidentally have some time with no plans, no chores, nothing to do and your choice of what to do with it. Its amazing.
6. Free books for Kindle
(source)
I’ve been reading a lot this summer, in that free time I’ve had. Even though books are cheaper for Kindle than they are in real life, they still add up, so I peruse the free top sellers from time to time. I knew that new books were always being added to the free section, but I didn’t know they were taken away as well! I had downloaded a couple of free books a couple of months ago, and then when I went to look at their description again recently… they weren’t free any more. I don’t know how often they switch them up, but I know it pays to go in there and check from time to time!
7. Making my own iced coffee
I have saved a bunch of money AND I like my iced coffee better than coffee I buy. That’s a win, win in my book. I was actually thinking of how much I’ll miss it when the weather gets cool.
8. Pinterest
I feel like I was the last person in the world to find out about this wonderful site. Is it the new Twitter? A place where I can make multiple inspiration boards and check out other people’s inspiration? I’m loving it. I love that I can go to one site for beautiful pictures of kitchens

style photos

and cookies

And those are the things I learned on my summer vacation! How about you? Discover anything new lately?

I’ve been loving my iPhone, coupon book, DIY furniture from IKEA and farm stands recently!
I love Sperrys. I just can’t get them to fit my feet right. My dad wears them and I think they are so cool!
I love it. Those cookies look awesome. I discovered something new this week, well, not really but, my friend Maia started a new blog: http://www.charmedimsuredc.com. I thought I’d pass it along since it was on subject!
Love all your summer discoveries
This summer, I discovered that my heart belongs to NH and I want to get back there asap as soon as my semester is over. I also discovered my looooove for yoga, tofu, and netflix. Cozy shack rice pudding is pretty much delicious, though I haven’t had it forever!
