The Inn on Carleton

We stayed at the Inn on Carleton for our overnight getaway to Portland. I chose this inn because it had great reviews on TripAdvisor and they had a resonably priced room left.

We found the Inn in a quiet residential neighborhood and checked in. We were greeted by a very friendly Cindy, who showed us to our room and told us about all the amenities at the inn. Our room was bigger than I thought it would be. We dropped off our bag and walked around and went downtown. My apologies for the dark room pictures.

The next morning we had an amazing breakfast in the adorable breakfast room. We’ve been to B&Bs where there are scheduled seatings and everyone sits together, but here, you come down when you want and sit at your own table. The breakfast room was bright and cozy!

Erm had the eggs benedict, and I had eggs benedict with a salmon cake underneath instead of the ham and english muffin. Both were delicious, and I haven’t gotten that salmon cake out of my head. I found out how they make it, so I’m going to try it at home! Buddy the owner worked with a local coffee company to make his own blend to serve with breakfast, and it was delicious as well. A nice strong coffee taste without being bitter. Breakfast was finished with a small scoop of homemade lemon-lime sorbet, great for banishing the fish and egg taste from my mouth ;) It was a great meal to send us on our way for a fun day!

I would highly recommend Inn on Carleton. It lacked nothing and we were so impressed with everything we got for the price of our room. We’ll be back on our next trip to Portland!

I only started staying at B&B’s a few years ago and love it! I really love Chadwick Bed and Breakfast in Portland.
